I have an 08 Tahoe and was wondering how to play MP3s in it. I put the disc in the CD drive (not the DVD drive of course) and it only starts to play after about a minute of thinking. After it DOES start to play, it sounds like it's having a hard time reading the disc. Is there a trick to playing MP3s, or can they not be played in the Tahoe?

no..the radio has to screen the disc before playing. usually the first mp3 in line will start playing a short time after you load it.

I have the Nav system and could get the cd-change. I was disappointed at first. Now I just rip my CDs into mp3's burn a CD-rom with 8-12 different album folders. The radio allows me to view and select any folder and/or any song. works real nice.

128k mp3 ok
192k mp3 better
256k mp3 even better
320k mp3 real nice

the higher the mp3 rate the larger the mp3 file.

try a different cdr...dont buy office depot ones...and yes it gets all of the files and their information before starting to play the first song so if you have alot of files then it can take longer

but it does seem pretty slow at times. I hope the next radio software upgrade will allow DVD-Rom. this would mean more album folders on on disc. would be real sweet.
