Mode door actuator

I have a 2007 tahoe and the hvac system will only blow air from the defrost and feet vents even when i move the vent settings. I was told by the dealership that it was a bad mode door actuator. I have removed the mode door actuator from above the gas pedal and now can't get the new mode door actuator aligned properly. Is there a trick to it?

Did you turn it on with the actuator not attached to the assembly? If you did you probably need a new one. (Actuator that is).

No I haven't attached the power supply to the new actuator yet. I am unable to attach the actuator to the cam assembly for a proper fit. Any ideas?
