So the other day I decided to remove the side trim and the plastic flares on my tahoe. I had done the back and it took so long to remove the goo from the emblems i felt lazy and said well I took the trim off I'll take it to the detail shop and they can remove the goo for me. I told them not to straight buff it first because paint will come with it. They assured me it would come out ok. I paid 100 dollars and came back 4 hours later. To make a long story short the paint above the fenders and down both sides is gone. I was PISSED. They told me they wouldn't cover it and said I mustve done it myself with a screw driver so I could get a free paint job. :mad3: wat are you nuts the paint was perfect. Anyways I'll post pics when I get them but what are some ideas to cover it up? I was thinking aftermarket flares painted to match and the truck but I'm not sure what to do down the sides

What!?!?!?!

WHAT?!?!

Dude, NO, don't let them get away with that. Be calm, but tell them, if they don't fix it you will be talking to a lawyer (even if you don't, just to scare them).

I can't believe they are trying to put this on you. That sucks bro. Sorry to read this. I wouldn't touch your truck until you talk to the shop more.

Also, wanted to add. Keep talking to the shop. I had a 2wd slammed F150 that I got a custom paint job on. When I dropped it off, I told them, I wanted the plastic trim taken off. When I picked up my truck 4 days later, the trim was still on there. :mad2: JC, what a bunch of frickin lazy idiots!! They tried to tell me that it was better for door dings and such. I told them, to take off $500 from the price, they said no, so I told them I was going to take to a few people and it was going to cost them more. I refused to pickup my truck and pay the balance. After 2 days, they agreed. I was still pretty pissed about them leaving the trim on there though.

Yeah I guess your right, I've had many talks with the manager and all it ends up in is me getting very angry, its hard not to get so mad i love this truck, what pisses me off the most is that I couldve done it myself and it would've come out fine but to save time and my labor I paid them to do it and they f**cked it up...I think I will call him today and go for another try and tell him I will be in touch with my lawyer if they can't resolve it

not that any of this is your fault but why wouldnt you just do the MAYBE one hour job yourself? save the money and the hassle. i took off the badges and molding on the side of my tahoe and my wife and I did it in about an hour or so.

Start a letter writting campaign. If the shop is owned or associated with some larger operation go straight to the top. If it's a privately owned shop write the owner and keep writting him weekly. If it's the owner you are dealing with write the BBB and Cc the letter to him. Find out if there are any other local orgs like a Chamber of Commerce that might put some pressure on the unethical a$$ and start writting them too. Like ac1975 said, don't let them get away with it.

It's hard to believe with businesses struggling out there that anyone would let a customer leave unhappy. If they will do this to you, then they do it to others too. They obviously don't care. See if you can get ahold of the owner, and tell him your beef.

If that does not work, I'd make up flyers and nail them to every telephone pole slamming their business.
