MAF code?

Used the tahoe for the first time towing a jeep cherokee today. Did great but about 200 miles into the trip my check engine light when off, everything seemed to run fine. Unloaded the jeep about 50 miles later, got gas and when turned vehicle back on light was gone. Got home and got it scanned at an autozone pulled up as a MAF problem.
I think related to this-or just really bad luck-i'm getting 13 mpg in town or hwy unloaded or hwy towing a jeep???? Doesnt make sense to me

Any help on this?

Clean the MAF sensor with Contact cleaner -OR- change it. Simple... MPG back.
