Ok.. I have now had the LTZ for two weeks. Granted, I was away on business for one of those, but I have still managed to put a little over 700 miles on it. I have been reading the threads on V8 and V4 operation. In one of the gas mileage threads I read where people are seeing higher mileage when traveling on the highway at around 60-65mph.

This brings up a question. My Tahoe seams to jump right to the V8 mode as soon as the pedal is touched. It doesn't matter if I touch it or if it is done via cruise. So, how are you guys able to keep the tahoe in V4 mode long enough to have it make any difference at all? Other than coming down from the higher elevations where you are mostly coasting anyway.

I don't expect Honda Civic millage but every little bit helps. I have notices the best millage on the freeway level ground with cruise control on I can get up to 30.
I really don't pay close attention to millage as I don't expect much from a 5000 LB SUV as I bought it for safety.:Chevy:

I have no problem staying in V4 mode on a level road at 65 mph. It seems like vehiles with the 4.10 diff have an easier time staying in V4 mode. I have the Z71 model and it comes standard with the 4.10 diff.
