Hello all I am new to this forum, I usually work on Mustangs and have had my 02 Tahoe for about 3 years and Love it runs tip top,
However I have been refilling my coolant about once every 2 weeks.
Its not totally drained just right below the fill mark sometimes about 1 inch I only know this because my light comes on and I fill it up, Oddly enough I can be going somewhere no light...start up after the store get about 5 miles it comes on say for 45 minutes next destination I leave and no light. I get home and check and its low.
Never runs hot, no leaks absolutely none, are there known issues with thermostats or possibly the water pump blades are corroding down? My coolant is "Jolly Ollie Orange" no milky look, I live in Florida and run the air just normal don't ever use the rear air unless its really hot.?
I had some fuel issues with it being hard to keep running when it got cold here earlier this month, but that was all related to fuel filter and 1 O2 sensor.
Thanks

sorry cant help you with the leak. Just saying Welcome to the site, and there is no such thing as a 4.7 on a tahoe. 4.8 or 5.3

If you have to add coolant every two weeks or so as you typed, you do in fact have a leak. Now whether or not it is visible is another thing. What you are going to have to do is a coolant pressure test on both a cold and warm engine.

A coolant pressure test will most definitely tell you where your leak is. We can sit here all day long typing check this or check that and it can do no good. Do the test or have it done then go from there.

I ran into this about a year ago. Mine was two cracked heads. It did not over heat nor could you tell by the oil. It ran just fine, but it would smoke on start up not all the time. Good luck with this one. but most likely if all the basic things check out then you might tearing this thing down to find the problem.
