So I was under the hood today checking the oil, tranny, etc. and I noticed my radiator fluid was a little low. When I went to unscrew the cap I noticed that the whole reservoir seems to be loose and moves around if you take hold of it and wiggle it. Not up and down so much but mostly back and forth movement. I checked all the bolts holding it to the fender well and they are all tight.

Does anyone else have this issue (and is this normal) or do I need to look into it a little further?

Thanks:eek:

Unless its going to fall off or interfere with a mechanical or hot component I dont think you have anything to worry about.

But do any of you have the same issue???????? Please go out to the garage, open the hood and give it a wiggle and let me know if yours is solid or if it moves.

Mine also moves. It's an 08 Yukon. I saw this and wondered why it wasn't designed to be more secure. Must have been a new grad, or summer intern ME that was given this job.:rolleyes2:

I haven't checked mine yet, but I'm thinking that if it is normal, maybe it's designed to "float"' as it could reduce the chance of cracking under rigid flexing? I know maybe I'm being creative here, but just a thought. Anything that could prevent coolant loss would be important, though. Also seems deliberate because it would be so easy to just make it secured tightly if that was the goal...

Took the Hoe in today for an oil and filter change and had them look at the reservoir. They said the movement is normal because it's rubber mounted. Phew!

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Guess I wasn't far off, but usually it'll just fall off on the street soon after the dealership approves it as "within spec". Be careful!
