In a previous post of mine, you guys gave me great feedback regarding a swaying or left-to-right rocking motion I experience when driving a 2004 Yukon on the freeway.

I had the vehicle inspected yesterday, and the mechanic also thinks it could be due to the wide tires on the car. However, he also mentioned that the idler arm and pitman arm have some play, and that the replacements would run ~$400.

What do you guys think--could the loose idler arm and pitman arm explain this swaying also? (Prior to yesterday, I never heard of these 2 parts.)

Thanks again for helping a new guy out.

That's definitely going to make a difference. Any play with those two parts you will notice. If those are worn, i would definitely have those replaced. But don't expect the left-right pull to be completely gone, because of the tires you have. But it will be much tighter if those parts are worn and you have them replaced. The difference is going to depend on how much play there currently is though.
