On Dec 31st, I purchased a 2007 Tahoe LT w/ lots of options.

Re the power liftgate, I believe the liftglass opens separately from the entire rear hatch? However, using the rear liftgate soft-key/open button, nothing happens or can be heard to release the liftglass. Same w/ the remote. Both remote and rear handle soft-key will open the liftgate. Looking closer, I am beginning to wonder if the liftglass really opens separately with the power liftgate option. Any answers?

Also, the REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY message was on when purchased. I wrongly figured this to be an easy fix. Replaced both key fob batteries, but the message continues to display. After battery change, the Chevy dealer tested output of both fobs to test-box satisfactorily. However, only one remote worked with the vehicle. Went through the RELEARN REMOTE KEY option using the primary key fob. All functions worked, but still had the message. Later, found the secondary key fob did nothing; no lock, unlock, etc.. Tried the RELEARN REMOTE KEY option with secondary fob, but no success. So two question; one, how do I clear the REPLACE BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY message, and two, how do I get the second key fob to communicate with the vehicle again?

Thanks, Dave

Lift gate glass does open separately may have a bad liftgate glass lock actuator or a broken wire in the liftgate wiring harness in the weatherstrip boot area on the right side when lifgate is open.. wires in that area tend to break from the opening and closing of the liftgate you may also want to remove the upper sill trim plate so you can look into the rear of the headliner area to get a better look at the wiring harness.. chances are you need a second remote those test boxes aren't always accurate or it can also be that the max remotes are already programed to that vehicle even though you only have 2 in hand.. max I believe is 5... disconnect the negative side of the vehicles battery for about a minute that should eliminate the messege

Radio Code

Before removing batt negative to clear message, is there a theft deterrent system requiring a radio code to reactivate the radio? If so, how can I determine code beforehand? Bought used, and don't have the maintenance manuals yet.

Will look into the activator/ broken wire for the liftgate.

Thanks

No radio code is required these newer vehicles have the vin number programed into them niw days it will only lock out if you try to install it into another vehicle but will not lose program when power is removed and restored as long as it remains on the same vehicle... again look for broken wires for wiper motor as well

Message returns

Disconnecting the batt negative eliminated REPLACE BATT IN REMOTE KEY message - until the subsequent start. Removed negative once again, and again the message was not there upon start. But once again, the message returned after stopping/ starting. Any ideas why?

On a separate note, I have to take the truck in to have the second key-fob re-programmed by my Chevy dealer. Key opens the door, starts the engine, but all buttons on the remote do nothing. All buttons do test ok on the dealer's test-machine. I'm also unable to 'relearn' the second remote through the RELEARN REMOTE ACTIVE (?) feature. Thus, is having the dealer re-program the second remote, and remove the REPLACE BATT ... message my best/ only option? $50-$60 to re-program.

Thanks

Also does the liftgate open with the over head console switch ? And you say the liftgate and liftgate glass are inop with remote but do the lights flash when pushing any of those buttons... your also saying that one remote works and the other doesnt doesn't is that correct if so is the remote that is inop on your key ring if so chances are thats why the message keeps coming back try leaving the remote thats inop in the house or away from the vehicle and see if that helps.. again those test boxed that the dealer has isnt always 100% accurate you may have a bad remote.. sometimes that battery terminal holder loses the soldering point and will still show ok on the test box.. look at where the battery terminal is and make sure that the soldering points are ok.

Tire pressures shown after each batt neg removal. Message is there when inop remote is in the house and I'm at the airport. Now, the liftGATE itself works fine. The liftGLASS does not. However, I have not tried the overhead liftgate switch, only the remote. I will check that and the solder points tonight. May have time over the weekend to look for a broken wire in the liftgate wiring bundle. Also, precisely which fuse number should I be looking for that protects wiper function? Maybe I looked at the wrong one. Looking at all this closer, I did find there is NO rear wiper blade installed; odd.

Figured it out; simple

Finally had time to look into the rear wiper and liftglass (liftgate ok) not working. Simply - there was no 25A fuse in the driver's side dashboard fuse box!

Started at the end of the line - the wiper. No blade. Picked-up a wiper blade. Blade cannot be installed due to broken attachment point on wiper arm. Order replacement wiper arm. Replace wiper arm, install blade. Now, before tearing apart the interior looking for a broken wire, go simple - fuse. No fuse. Really? Can it be that simple? Yes. Popped in a 25A fuse, and presto - the wiper and liftglass operate as they should!
