I installed these (or a set just like them) for a customer a couple months back. Had a decent picture, but the posts wouldn't lock. In other words, the customer lost the ability to adjust the headrests up and down, and they were loose. I had to fab some brackets just to keep them from being so loose.

That's what I was afraid of. Any way to find some small rubber bushings/sleeves to make the poles a little thicker?

What did you mount the bracket to? Not real worried about adjusting the height - it's just right for me.

OK so I ordered some headrests - but now...

How do you get the stock headrests off a 2001 Tahoe? There's no typical button to release the headrest. I've tried taking a look at the poles and the plastic bracket below them... tried yanking it... tried looking for a release on the bottom of the black part under the plastic bracket/trim...

ARGH!!!

OK I figured out how to remove the headrest. There's a pinhole on the plastic trim part that releases them. Had to find a nail small enough to fit in there (a pin was too flimsy to push it in).

Anyone have any hints on how to get the cable down the post hole and come out the bottom of the seat? I have all the typical Snap-On tools that are handy for car stereo installation (snake with the grabber, cabling to run through, fishing wire) but I can't seem to figure out where the cable is going once it's down the pole.

OK, I figured it out again

The bottom of the seat has a snap-together plastic piece that runs the entire length. It, unfortunately, keeps a plastic piece folded into an L-shape that prevents you from getting the cord or a snake all the way down where you could grab it.

Removing the plastic piece (which I thought I'd never get back on) allows you to unfold the L and run the cord however you desire. I ran it between the seat and the center console storage, and then underneath the console to the power and negative lines I ran behind the console LCD (former tape player/CD storage).

To get the clip back on, I put the seat all the way forward, then tilted the upper portion all the way forward. Then moved the bottom portion all the way down so I could get both hands underneath the plastic clip. I pulled down on the pocket on the back of the seat and stretched the leather as best I could. The clip slides together easier in this method.
