lawnmower sound

i just changed out my alternator but for some reason the thing sounds like a lawn mower now. waaa waaa waaaa type noise. i noticed my power steering making is fluctuating when i turn corners as well. could i be misinterpreting the noise and its somehow power steering pump related? i just cannot tell. hoping to avoid another flaming alternator situation....lol

during your alternator flambae' you might have cooked the bearing in the idler wheel/pully right in front of the alt ,i had the same exact issue- replaced alt heard noise changed the pully noise is gone -

toss some wd-40 on that pully and see if that changes the sound, if it does, I agree that the bearing needs attention.

i had truck few yrs ago that made that same kinda noise,few days later the belt tensioner flew apart!
