I am not sure, being a new Tahoe owner and all, but I believe the lamps in the door for the two front window switches are burnt out. Are those user replaceable? I also notice on the radio that the AM/FM selector buttons do not illuminate as well as the AC and Rear defrost button. Are all those user replaceable or do they require soldering? My previous Ford Exploder required soldering and it was a pain. Thanks as always for the help! :Chevy:

I have a few out on my radio too. I was reading somewhere that if your truck is under warranty they just replace the whole unit. So it's probably not something you can easily* do yourself. I have seen some write ups on it though, i'll see if i can't find a link or something

That's a lot of burned out lamps - did you check your fuses?
Since the lamps are spotty and all over the place with no common thread, I don't think it could be fuses. For instance the rear window switches are light but an inch in front of them, the fronts are not. Same issue on the radio. The station buttons are light but the ones to the right are all dark. Maybe they don't light up? I'll dig a little Saturday hen I have some free time.

Thanks.....I can handle the radio. One of my electronic friends wants to swap a Pioneer nav unit for the panel radio as it is for a few hundred. Since I am an ol' electronic tech, I don't mind wading into the unit for a look see.

It's the bulbs.

I've had my power window switch apart but can't access the bottom part which is where the soldering in of lights go. It would be easy to be able to get the lower housing off of the pins of where the harness plugs into. I too have lights out.

If I ever get to it, I'll do a write up. Used to work on electronics. Bulbs at Radio Shack, check voltage, I think they are 1.5volt but not positive.

update, my power window lights came on the switches, I suspect a loose solder joint on the circuit board. I tapped the power mirror and the lights came on for a moment then off again.

I may tear apart my next days off and investigate.

Those switches are pushed a lot thus breaking the solder joints on them.

PS, if anyone tears one apart and succeeds getting the lower half of the plastic off, let me know.

I got the housing apart but can't get the part where the pins go for the plug off exposing the circuit board.

oh i've got that whole thing apart a couple times.lol It's not too difficult, just a bunch of tabs that need to be pulled up at once. I had a friend help hold some out for me. Then when you get farther into it some tabs will need to be pushed out. It's pretty easy and the circuit boards only go in one way.
From what i remember though, the solders on these are extremely small, I've been having problems with my power windows and took it apart a couple times looking for loose connections. hope i helped

and who knows
you might end up seeing something i didn't
