Kenwood DNX7100

Sup guys, I am taking a 2008 LTZ Tahoe coming this Wed. The only thing the Tahoe isn't coming with, is the stock Nav that comes with the vehicle. My friend works at the dealership, so while I was waiting, I came along the Kenwood Deck that they had at the dealership with there other stuff. So I have been reading all the posts about after market decks being installed in your guys rides, and some things not working or problems happening. I compared both the Stock DECK compared to the Kenwood DECK. I can tell you guys, and future buyers, I would seriously re consider buying the stock DECK and getting the Kenwood installed. I saved 400, and I am getting much more then the ones that come with the cars. No need for DVD's to run the maps, it takes a 2GB SD card to update maps, and add your own backgrounds, etc etc. XM radio is already installed. Rear View camera, has it. BLUE TOOTH my main concern, since I didn't want to install the Motorola, also comes with the Kenwood. And its CHEAPER. I don't know why people have not jumped on this earlier? I will be getting my ride on Wed, as its coming from another dealership. I will take pictures, etc.

Read the reviews on it, and also shows all the features. The real time traffic is pretty legit, and that and the blue tooth is what really sold me. The iPOD and IPHONE works FLAWLESSLY. It has your play lists on there, and everything. And its quick, snap of a finger. No LAG when choosing what song you want, or going through play lists. Let me know guys, I am really interested in what you guys have to say. Maybe someone already knew about this, maybe not. Hope this helps, cheers!

And if anyone was concerned about by passing some of the stuff, say while you are driving, no worries. My friend is just going to ground the wire to my brake line, and that's all to it. :thumbsup:

Arent you going to lose your steering wheel mounted controls? I could not live without those...

Nice deck! That's exactly the one im getting too... What else do you need to ensure you dont lose steering wheel control?

I didn't lose 1 thing on my steering wheel controls. Only thing you have to change with your hand, is the station on the xm radio and thats IT. Everything works with the steering wheel.

which harness did you use to keep the steering wheel controls? or did you direct wire that? I'm installing my DNX7100 right now.

I just installed a Kenwood DDX8019 and used the PAC SWI-JACK to retain all of my steering wheel controls. This Kenwood is MUCH better that the stock nav radio. I have the bluetooth, navigation, iPod and Sirius for less than a stock nav radio.

I still don't understand why people are still getting the NAV that comes with the Tahoe. You can go to there after market department and even have them install it and warranty it from GM and its all good, of course you pay more then what its supposed to be, but if you buy it from the dealer, its still cheaper then the stock NAV that comes with the Tahoe. Makes no sense to me either, especially for the people who want blue tooth and purchase the Motorola blue tooth on top of that. :nono:

Glad the install went well, how you like it? CNET ranked it pretty good, but the person who reviewed it, excuse my language was a complete tool. When you use a NAV for the very first time, of course you are not going to know what does what, read the MANUAL. Cheers.
