I've got barn doors on my Yuke. I was really amped about them at first since I'm tall and usually hit my head on liftgates, but more and more I'm getting sick of not being able to see out the back very well, and not being able to keep the rear windows clean (no rear wiper). Plus, it's annoying as hell that I can't put any decent looking LED tails on my truck since they don't fit barn door models! So I got to thinking...would it be possible to do a liftgate retrofit on a Yuke with barn doors?
The brackets and trim would have to be changed, the roof-mounted CHMSL would have to be removed, and wiring for the wiper would have to be added. Where are the controls for the rear wiper located on a liftgate-equipped truck? On the signal stalk, or a separate button on the dash?
This is probably nowhere near cost effective, I'm just curious as to whether or not it's even possible.
And no, I'm not going to sell my truck and get one with a rear liftgate.
