Hey guys,

Just bought a 2000 Tahoe last night. LS w/ 118k. Got it for a pretty good price. There are a few small issues with it, but nothing major (ac needs work, needs new window motor).

The original owner didn't know a thing about cars, and I don't think it bothered him much. He didn't really keep it that clean, and I'm pretty sure he didn't do much maintanence on it other than having the oil changed.

My question is, what should I do as far as a 120k service? I'm going to change the oil (marvel, stp) and lube it up this week. What else?

Thanks

If you seem leery about the upkeep from the original owner, then I would go through the entire truck, especially with that many miles. Here's what I would do:
Flush the transmission and change filter
Change fuel filter
Check/change air filter
Flush brake system with new fluid
Check brake pad life
Check differential fluid level
Lube chassis and steering components
Check/replace pcv valve
Replace cabin air filter
Check condition of spark plugs/wires
Check belts
Run a can of Seafoam through the intake, crankcase, and fuel tank to help clean up built-up gunk and carbon deposits.

I know it seems like a long list, but it will be worth it to check all of these and do what you can to avoid any problems down the road.
