Junkyard transfer case?

The transfer case on my Tahoe is busted, internally. I don't know what, but a GM service member told me this. He said the easiest way to fix it would be a new transfer case.
I'm thinking I'll just go to a junk yard a pull an old one off another truck. Among other things.

My questions:
-How difficult of a job is it to pull and install a transfer case?
-Could I get it done in a day?
-What tools am I gonna need?
-All 1500 Tahoes/Suburbans/Silverados have the same transfer case granted they have the 4L60E trans right?
