Is This Caused By Brake Light Switch?

Hello again. Back to the stop lights. Just found out they're out again. Checked brake light switch and retainer clip, both firmly in place as they should be. No loose wires or connections. All fuses are fine. All other lights work (hazards, turn signals, tail lights).

However, while messing around with it I figured out that the stop lights WILL come on, depending on where I press on the brake pedal. Basically, if I press on the right side (closer to the gas pedal) they work - but go out again if I press the pedal all the way down, but if I press on the middle or left side, they don't work at all.

Some of you may remember I had some trouble after replacing the power booster a couple months back (which ended up just being a fuse). At that time, my dad had brought me a brake light switch, which I went ahead and put in since the old one had probably been there since this truck came off the assembly line. I'm waiting for him to call me back, but I'm 98% sure he got that switch from a salvage yard.

So I think this is just that he got an old switch and it's going out, but wanting a 2nd opinion before I buy a new one. Basically, money is tight right now and (obviously) this is a must-fix, but I don't want to spend a single dime that isn't necessary.

Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated!

EDIT: It's a 95 2WD if that matters. Thanks!
