just wanted to introduce myself. I have a 2001 Yukon with 149,000 miles. The car has been in the family for 2 years and about 30,000 miles. My son drove it and could care less how it looked as long as it ran. I did a few things to it during it's time with him. I on the other hand consider myself a car Guy. I like my cars clean and everything working correctly and efficiently. I do most of the work on my cars and I'm not afraid to dig into a project. I rely heavily on the forums for info and advice. Right now I'm in the process of doing some maintenance just for peace of mind.
Two questions I have right now. I am going to do a brake job this week and I have researched some video and other info on the web. My question is do you feel it's necessary to pull the entire caliper off to replace the pads or just the top part of the caliper.
Second, I was going to pull a plug to see how it looked but I can't get the ignition wire free from the plug. I've replaced hundreds of plugs in my time but I can't seem to pull hard enough to free the wire and that's on the easiest obtainable plug. I notice that the wire has a heat shield and the shield has a groove in it. Is there some trick or tool to easily remove the wire.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading through the existing threads.
