Due to my 200k miles they stated my tahoe is only worth 7500. I got rearended 2 weeks ago on I55 in st louis in rush hour, i was stopped in a traffic jam and this gal.......well.......clipped me going 70 mph (swerved at the last second) destroyed the pass side of the truck (2nd time this has happend to pass side).

anyway their argument was that there are no LT tags on the side of my truck to denote it as being an LT optioned Tahoe anymore, due to the last incident. So the question is, how do you tell if your tahoe is an LT, without the C pillar tags? I have my orignal window sticker at home, but thats 120 miles away and I won't be home till tomorrow.

Do some of the digits in the glove box have any indicator of the LT option, as the vin number doesnt denote LT options on these trucks. Someone let me know, thanks.

anyway after I told them Uhh no this is an LT the value went from 7500 to 11500 so they are going to fix it now.

Well, depending on how bad it is, you may want it to be totaled...

Also, is it actually an LT? In your sig, it says LS.

LS LT, either way. how do you know if its an LT or an LS without the C pillar decals?

you would think, but apparently you cant, lol.

It would make sense that it is an LS though, as I made this account right after I bought the tahoe 2 years ago. I had an accident on the pass side 2 years ago as well that practically wiped out the entire pass side of the truck, and as I recall thats the side the decal WAS on. However the body shop apparently didn't put it back on. Not sure why there isn't one on the driver's side, maybe the previous owner removed it years ago or it fell off. It had 100k when I bought it. who knows.

I tried looking those up but none of them specifically said 'LS PACKAGE, or LT package"

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I have a leg to stand on since they now say they will fix it becuase "I said" its an LT. I don't want them to cancel the check when the truck is in the body shop ripped to pieces.

The uninsured driver that rearended/sideswiped me did a tune of $5300 out of my pocket.

These dont show the rest of the pass side though.

Did the driver who hit you have anything to say? It really sucks that it happened to you.

St. Louis sucks. I've gotten smacked into three times now in the last 2 years by uninsured motorists on the highway here. They don't really enforce the requirement to be insured to drive your vehicle in this state.

I was under the impression that most insurance policies have separate coverage for accidents where the person at fault is un/under-insured - that sucks that you have to pay $5300 out of pocket. It's because of crap like that that we barely drive the Tahoe anymore.

i thought that the lt badge was only on whe it was an LT, and there was no LS badge.

your door handles would be black with an LS packedge, and they are body color with an LT. but it seems you have figured it out.

i would let them total it if you get full vehicle repalcement though.

Well i owe 8600 on it and they said 7500, which was 7k after the deductable. Till I said, Uhh no its an LT. after that the damage wasnt anywhere near close to the total out limit (75% through state farm, 80% by law in missouri).

I got home and covered my bases, sure enough on my window sticker, Tahoe, with the $10,500+ LT option package. I knew it was an LT, but I guess the body shop that fixed it the last time removed the badges for whatever reason and never put them back in.

Collission coverage is the coverage for uninsured drivers through state farm and I have that.

Yeah the girl had something to say. "I left my insurance card at home, i dont have it with me." No biggie I thought as she had a new cavalier, and I leave my insurance cards at home all the time. I figured it was legit but whatever. I have her home address, id go fuk her car up but......well.......my bumper hammered the piss out of her drivers side, so she is going to be stuck driving that hunk of **** around till its paid off.

I drive my tahoe cuz its a work vehicle for me. Office on wheels. Honestly to me, and I know this will irk some of you guys, but a tahoe to me is just a utility vehicle. If it gets trashed I don't care. But i am sure some of you guys treat your tahoes like i do my mustangs so its all good. Anyway its getting fixed now so thats all I care. I really didnt want them to total it out, as the hassle of buying another vehicle, taxes, title, license, etc, i would jsut rack the miles up on another one and make it just as worthless.

Did you get a police report? Did you get her license plate and driver's license number? Reason I ask is because there still might be a way you can get compensated for this, at least what you're out as far as the deductible goes. You can file a State accident report:

http://dor.mo.gov/mvdl/drivers/insurinfo.htm#accreport

Then she either has to pay up or she loses her license. I filed this report on one occasion when I had all the information. The guy decided he'd rather lose his license and drive around with a suspended license, which a lot of people in St. Louis do too. I guess if they're already breaking one law, they figure why not go all out. And then drive with expired plates as a bonus.

yes yes and yes. and im not worried about it. State farm is going after her for the damages. They will garnish her wages to get it back, I already talked to them about this. It will take a while to get my deductable back but get this...........

my body shops estimate was for $4700, the insurance estimate was for $5300. Minus the $500 deductable, thats a check for $4800...........which means even after ill have $100 left and I wont even have to pay the deductable.

Anyway I'll get a copy of the police report. They have all her info but I have her phone nubmers and address on the contact info. I never did write down her plate number but its on the police report lol. Go figure. IM a PI and I chase plates all the time and in this instance i didnt write it down for my own piece of mind, lol.

Brings up a good question?
How many packages are there? I have an SLT, where does this stand in the pecking order from Best to average?
