Hey fellas.

On my Tahoe I have a body lift. I'm not sure if this will mess with the body lift support or anything, but if I went to install a brush guard where my tow hooks are, would it mess with anything that I'm not supposed to?

Sorry, It's hard for me to explain what I'm trying to say. =/

Well, I don't know much about body lifts, but when you do a body lift, don't you render the stock tow hooks useless? I thought that the tow hooks were mounted to the frame, and a body lift raises the front bumper cover to the point that the tow hooks have to be removed for clearence...

Most brush guards/push bumper type deals mount through the same cutouts in the bumper cover as the tow hooks protrude through, right? So, if the bumper is raised up, I think you're SOL unless you make cutouts in your bumper for it to fit.

I could be completely wrong though, and if I am, you should be fine. Provided you can actually get it mounted, I don't think it would add enough weight to affect anything that much.

My apologies if this entire post was hooey...like I said, I don't know much about body lifts...but it would stand to reason that the bumper would be raised along with everything else, which would affect the tow hooks.

I have no idea but my tow hooks are still there. I just got the Tahoe so I will need to look at it again to make sure I even know what I'm talking about.

But thank you very much for your input.

I'm probably full of crap...like I said, I know nothing about body lifts.

But, if the tow hooks aren't affected and you still have room to mount the brush guard to the frame, then I'm sure you'll be ok. Most of the brush guards on the market weigh in the neighborhood of 60-100lbs...not nearly enough to mess anything up. And if it does...time to look into a different brand of components for your body lift!

You will need to build some brackets to compensate for the body lift, should be fairly easy just some plate steel and grade 8 hardware unless you have a welder handy.

****k. What exactly do you mean by brackets? Just something that can hold the brush guard up?

What if I took out the tow hooks, then could I mount the brush guard in place of the hooks? If that's even possible.

Has the area where the tow hooks are right now changed in clearance wise...
cause the guard goes right up against the hooks

sounds like you still have the hooks on ..

or are you talking about a suspension lift ?

I'm not talking about a suspension lift, it's a 3 inch body lift.

And honestly, I don't know if it's changed in clearence wise because I just purchased this Tahoe. Unless I compared it to a stock Tahoe, then I couldn't tell ya. =[

ok well you only need about 6" or so width for the guard thats how wide mine is through the bumper if you got at least that then you should be fine

good luck :)

I just hope when I go to install the brush guard in a few days my body lift on the Tahoe won't keep me from finishing the installation.

I'm just wondering because I thought some brackets from the body lift is uaully installed on the same bar as the tow hooks. I may be VERY wrong because I've never ever dealt with tow hooks before!

Thanks for the input though man!

Got pictures of my hooks and stuff.

Does it looks like my brush guard will fit on fine without any mods/builds?

If I'm correct, a brush guard can will just replace the tow hooks? I take out the tow hooks, then I put the brush guard in place of it? I dunno, never installed a brush guard, waiting for it to come in tomorrow. =]
