ok first off. i just got a 99 Yukon SLE and i was wondering if theres anyway to cut off or disable the day time running lights?

and for the next question. theres is a little "sqeaking" form my engine bay while im driving. it doesnt get louder or faster as the rpms get higher and it doesnt do it much at idel. im just wonder if anyone else has had this happen and if so what could it be. i was think the tenstioner pully but like i said it doesnt get any faster.

ok if anyone can help me with either one of these questions, thanks.

later

if the noise doesn't get faster as you rev it up its not a pully. check your fan clutch. i had to replace one on my 96 that was squeaking. try to spin it when the trucks not running.

i replaced the tensioner pulley and altinator before we figured out it was the fan clutch. i still have a slight squeak, may be the top pulley between the altinator and airconditioner pump.

fan clutch put me back about $75.

If it was the tensioner assembly you should be able to hear it chirping at idle especially with the hood up.

They're cheap (around $30 at NAPA) and only takes a minute or two to replace.

How do I turn off the Automatic Headlamp System and Daytime Running Lamps when necessary?

Turn the ignition to RUN.
Press the DOME OVERRIDE button four times within six seconds.
After the fourth press of the button, a chime will sound informing you the system is off. The system will revert back to the automatic mode when the ignition is turned off and on again.

dont complete the cycle I.e if the button clickes you have not done it right, dont push in then push out. push in and only come back far enough as not to turn the dome override OFF again.

ok i tried it and it still didnt work. ill try it again. some other time. or have someone else try it. let me get this straight. you push in the dome override button to the on position which turns the dome lights off. then hit it 3 times or 4 times? all within 6 seconds. but in the on position dont push so itll pop back out, right? sorry im not gettin right away. so thanks for bareing with me.

quickest and easiest way to disable the DTRL's is to push your parking brake pedal JUUUUST enough for the park brake light to come on...and your DTRL's will go off

Any chance your speedo is in K's? Canadian models won't allow DTRL's to be disabled, unless you do as fck55mph suggests, use the park brakepedal.

how did you get them to go off? if you used the button trick, its supposed to "undo" itself when you shut the truck off and restart it.

if you used the brake, release the brake.

If its something else, post it up.

My Yukon set for almost two years, i have always had headlight switch problems i've replaced the thing 3 times.. and now my DTRL are off.. and wont come back on at all, the light in the dash is on... but as for the lights themself... they are off - doesn't bother me much.. but.. what does bother me is my bright light light in the guage cluster will not come on at all.. the bright lights work fine.. but the light wont come on
