I have a 2006 Chevy Tahoe Z71 package.

The housing for the passenger side view mirror won't lock in tightly when I put it into front position and it doesn't take much to move it out of place.

There is nothing wrong with the mirror or the motor moving the mirror.

How do I tighten the housing of the mirror so it locks in place where it's supposed to be? Any videos showing how to do this?

Thanks!

Not 100% on the 06's but on my 01 I have had a similar issue. My mirrors are manual close and open and when I closed it one night, it seemed like something let go within the mirror itself. After doing some research, I found that the clip and spring inside of the mirror's housing let loose. You will need two Locking C-Clamp type vice grips to make the repair (if your 06 is the same or similar to an 01+).

You will need to pull off the mirror glass. to do this, put the mirror all the way down as far as it will go and gently pry on it until the clips start popping off. (Should be a circle). Unplug the glass if equipped with heated mirrors. You will then see a post that the mirror swings on, a spring, and a retaining ring. You will need to probably bend back some prongs on the ring before re-applying. open and place one c-clamp on one side of the ring, then do the same for the other side of the ring and continue to tighten the clamps and apply enough pressure to lock down the ring. This should fix it. Of course if your mirrors are anything like my 01. lol Hope that helps.
