How to install Factory Nav on Non-Bose Equipped Vehicle?

I would like to add a OEM Nav unit to my 08 Non-Bose Tahoe but I am not certain exactly what to do. I have already purchased the GM Nav Unit part # 15940102, the Bose Amp and the Rear DVD Receiver. I am not certain I really need the Rear DVD but it came as a package. I have been reading forum after forum and I am confused on how or what I need.


I know how to install the Nav unit and nav antenna and you have to take it to the dealer to get it programmed but this is where I am confused:

1. How to install the amp to the radio and to the speakers and what I need?

2. How to connect the Onstar & XM Radio and what do I need?

3. What is the VSS Wire, where to install it and what do I need?

4. I see there are four plugs on the back of the Nav Unit, what are the other
2 for?

I did read on one forum where they installed the Nav Unit in a Non-Bose vehicle but did not mention anything about adding an Amp or VSS Wire.
I guess I am looking for some clarification. Do I need the Amp and VSS Wire?

Also I see in many forums people where getting items from JPCustoms but it seems they are out of business, where do I get the items I need? I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

If you have the non-Bose system you do not have a Speaker system amplifier (only Bose equipped vehicles do), as for the VSS wire its is a wire that connects to the cars computer system that figures the vehicles speed and integrates it to the Nav system thereby disabling certain features when the car is in movement for safety reasons, so you will need it but that all the info I can give you.

im the same spot your in lol.. i want to put a nav in my non bose LS. all i know is i need a vss wire, nav unit, gps antenna, nav dvd.... i think im just gonna buy the Kenwood 8120
