New here, pardon the "stupid question". I did a search...

I know how to close the hood on my new LTZ (2007) without getting the infamous "dents" by avoiding pushing down on the hood from on top. I close the hood using the slanted front.

When I put on the OEM bug / rock guard, what is the best way to close the hood? It's a bit of a finesse job even before putting the deflector on.

I have it sitting on the floor waiting to install....if this turns into having to push "down on the hood", I'm sending it back and getting the 3M clear bra....

Thanks.

The easiest way that I have found is to pull the hood down until about 6" from closed and then briskly push it down the rest of the way. With the chip preventer on, I'm at a loss as to how you can do it. :nonod:

On my Denali with the hood protector, I lower the hood with the tips of my fingers on the chrome trim piece on the front edge of the hood. I lower it all the way until it latches. At that point, with the palms of my hands, I gently but firmly push it down (not pressing on the hood protector) until it latches. No problem, not a stupid question per se, but curious as to why this might be hard to figure out -- is Tahoe/Suburban really all that different?

Different only in that the gas springs are hard to overcome from the fully extended position, so people are applying enuf pressure to actually dent the sheetmetal.
