High Rpms but not moving

hi. Just picked up a 08 Tahoe hybrid. Occasionally transmission seems to slip. Was at 2600 rpm and was not moving at all. No grinding noise. Happens 1 once a week. Thanks for any help. also getting high rpms sitting at a light. does this mean its charging batteries?

if the gas engine is running at stops it is to charge the batteries...otherwise there would be no noise at all...short tripping a hybrid can lead to lessened fuel economy and more frequent gas engine activation as the batteries are not obtaining full charge...not sure about the slipping....can you give a more detailed description?...are you sure youre not perceiving a slip because you are running the gas engine more and hearing more noise?...
