I usually just read these posts, but now I am in need of some advice.
Here is my background. I have an 08 Tahoe LT3 with 6000 miles. I bought it in September New, and around 4000 miles it started to have an intermittent high pitch squeal ( 750rpms to around 1500rpms). My first thoughts was a bad belt. I took it in and they said they couldn't duplicate.
So the second time in they heard it and threw a new belt on it. That did not fix it.
The third time they said it might be coming from the alternator. Sure why not, lets start throwing parts at it. They had to order it and so on the fourth attempt they pulled a TSB out of left field instead of putting the alternator on.
They gave me TSB #06-02-32-010A : Power Steering High Pitched Whistle Noise Heard in Any Gear with Vehicle Warm (No Fix Available at This Time)-(May 22, 2007) (models 2007 Escalade, Avalanche, Suburban, Silverado, Tahoe, Sierra, Yukon)
When I got this I was like WTF, this is from 07 and is coming up on 2yrs old. So I immediately call the GM help line and was given a case #. He told me he could not find this TSB. He then called back and said GM is working on this problem and will call me when they have a fix. I reminded him that this was an ongoing TSB for almost 2yrs and by the way the TSB I was given only applied to 2007 models, and mine was built in April of 08, he told me it applied to my truck also.
This high pitch squeal drives me insane and I asked for other options beside wait for a fix, I was not given any nor would I be given any compensation from GM.
I need help with this one. I really don't feel like trading it in after only having it a couple of months. I will keep taking it into the dealership to see if they can fix it I guess. But not what I really expect from a 50k truck. Sorry for the long post, and thanks for the help.
