I am new to this site and seeking some help. I just bought a White 2003 Tahoe LS with 63,000 miles. It originally had 265/70 R16 tires and I added 265/70 R17 tires. After about 5 miles of driving my SERVICE 4WD light came on. It comes on and stays on. Could a change in rim size do that? Does it need to be reprogrammed? The fluid is fine. I'd appreciate any help or opinions you may have to offer.

Thanks,

Search the site their is a lot of good information out their. Mine started at 48k i took it to local guy that could read the body codes and he determined it to be the encoder located inside the transfercase shifter motor. Very common problem i would consider it a maintenance item . I did some reasurch found most dealers charge 7-8 hundred bucks, they change the whole motor assembly. But if it shifts you probley only need the encoder the part and gasket is about 80 bucks on line. I down loaded the instructions and pictures off a forum and did it last week with a hand in a cast it took about a hour.

Base on what I have seen on the forums on all gm trucks if you own one you need to learn how to change one other wise it will cost ya.

Good luck Doug
