Ok, So I have a 98 yukon with an 8 inch lift, 37 inch tires, and 4.88 gears. A good while back, I had an issue where the truck would be running fine, and all of the sudden it would cut off then back on. It seemed as if someone had a switch that they were turning the motor off then on again a second or two later. Then, after doing it a few times, the motor would just die. It would not set any codes or anything either. I ended up taking it to a mechanic and they could not find anything wrong. It would only happen once the truck had been running for about twenty minutes or so, and then once it started, it would progressively get worse. After doing it for a week or so, the problem stopped, and I went several months without an issue.
Now all of the sudden, just the other day, it started back up again. Does anyone have any suggestions at all??? I have thought about MAF and CAM sensor but I would like some direction first if anyone has ideas. Thanks!

Sounds like a wiring issue, but have you checked your fuel pressure?

No not yet, I was thinking of checking that and the MAF sensor to see if they were both functional. Any other ideas?

Hey, I am buying a 99 tahoe with same problem. I just replaced the fuel pump with no luck. I was told to check the MAF sensor and cam sensor also. If you figure it out please let me know. I am getting a really good deal the owner is paying for repairs.

So I figured out my problem... I pulled the Air filter and it was caked with crap. I had tried about everything possible and then just checked it as a last resort. Needless to say, that was the problem. I have a sealed Volant Cold air Intake Kit and the filter was covered in dirt and debris. Def. Something to check because what it does is when the engine is not breathing properly through the intake, the MAF does not read that enough air is coming through and will actually cause the car to shut off completely. Also, when you do that, I would recommend going to advanced auto or auto zone, and getting some MAF cleaner, and take out your MAF sensor and spray it down and clean it up at the same time. Let me know what happens, and hope this helps!
