Greetings,
I recently picked up a 97 Tahoe LT. My first Chevy was a '59 Impala (in the 80's). My second was a Vega (no comment), and finally a 2000 Metro (not really a Chevy). I had an Olds wagon for a bit until the overdrive blew up. Only the first of these cars was worth the metal used to build it. Broke 3 Mustangs and an Econoline van too (no Fords for me). I have not owned another "American" car for quite some time and put my faith (and money) in Toyota.
Fast forward to now, my Highlander is rated to tow 5K but struggles with 3K. I didn't want to burn up a $5000 transmission, leading me to the used Tahoe. Outside of some electrical issues, I am impressed with it. I will be adding a brake controller and heading out on (of all days) Friday the 13th, over the Donner Summit.
I plan to use this forum to share the solutions to things that go wrong, and find answers to those I need help with. This is an old vehicle and I expect it to fail at times. Hopefully the solutions I do post will help someone.
