So its winter and its getting kind of cold and im just getting around to my heater problem..

when i start my tahoe up and let it run and get the engine hot it wont blow hot air.. unless im driving 70 down the highway to get to school or work. when i get in town it gets cold again and hot air stops blowing thru

Ive replaced the AC cluster and replaced the heater core..

the only way i get hot air to run thru without going 70, is if i disconnect the vacuum hose going to the little vacuum on the heater hoses close to the heater core which is supposed to be connected...

Any ideas?

I have a 95 too and having similar problem. I tried jumping the vacuum hose by connecting it together (2 Hoses on the ac dryer on the passenger side, i used a joiner tube) All the did was to close the heater control (4 hoses) so no heat at all.

The logical solution is to flush the heater core with hot water and some rad flush. It will be no fun as we have 8 inches of snow now.

I hope this may help...I am freezing, so will have to try it this weekend.

Yeah i was thinking about just jumping it as well, from what ive seen in the newer model(96-99) chevy pickups and tahoes they dont have that vacuume.
techinicially i jumped it by disconecting the small vacuume line and i get heat with it disconected.
I had also replaced my heatercore which is really easy, just take off the plactic that surrounds it, take the hoses off throw the new one on and put that plastic piece back on(only hard part is putting that plastic piece back on) which i cracked pretty bad hahah

i have heat, just not the way im suppose to have heat ha

and that sucks! ha in amarillo its only snowd once this year and didnt last but half a day.
Did you end up flushing it?
