It seems like when I try to read the oil level the dipstick has oil way up and over the read area of the stick. It seems like it not the whole width of the stick that's covered that far up, but it makes it somewhat hard to read.

I also fear that after putting in 5 qts the dipstick showed that I had way too much oil in it. Almost an inch over the top. I figured it was wrong since the engine was new and just put in. Now I got some oil leaks  Jasper says they'll cover it, but I haven't been able to locate it yet. I guess too much oil would create leaks, right? Seems like the head gasket on one side has had a leak at some point, but can't tell if it's still leaking. I find oildrops on the starter bolts and on the bottom and around the bellhousing. I know I need to do alot more research on the vehicle before I can say anything. But with too much oil, where would you most likely see damage?

actually anywhere it will find its way out of the weakest sealed area. 1 qt over should not induce a leak. i would check oil first thing in the morning after truck sits overnite.
