gm has been putting these heated whindshield washer fluid systems in their 07s and 08's we have them in our acadia and enclave.

i have never seen them work to remove ice but know they get rid of bugs and crap. but what about ice?

one thing im worried about, is it going to be like throwing hot water on cold glass and crack it??

lets say i wake up, get ready, go out and find its 15 degrees, with icy windows. heat the fluid and it sprays ( i read its like 150-180 depending on outside temps:wow: ) ok that extrime change, is it enough to crack a whindshield??

just curious what you think, science was not a strong subject for me :smilielol:

About 3 weeks ago, I made a trip to pick up my daughter from college and got caught in a horrible winter storm along I-80 thru western PA ... AND had I not had my Tahoe I would have stopped somewhere along the way. But I just stuck her in "Auto 4" and I cruised @ 65mph (you could feel her grip - even though there was NO road ... ONLY snow pack).

On top of the road condition, there was sleet / freezing rain hitting the windshield. I used the heated fluid the entire trip and it kept my winshield clear enough that I was not concerned about my vision. This however did NOT stop ice from accumulating on the wiper arms or the edges of the windshield ... and I did have the defrost on too. The next day I had to refill the washer fluid ALL 1.5 - 2 gallons of it !!!! There was also roughly 2" of ice all over "her" ... it took 15 minutes to spray off the ice !!!!

Bottom line ... its great for keeping ice from accumulating on your windshield as you drive. Most likely would remove some light frost without a problem, but I know I would never had finished the trip that night without my '07 LTZ.

The Tahoe is an absolute BEAST !!!!

I thought keeping it heated was more so the fluid didn't freeze in the lines, I've had that problem before...

Assuming you are using premix that's good to 0 or below, probably what happened was that water from previous rain had diluted what's in the very end of the nozzle and that's what is freezing. If you just hold the nozzle between your fingers for a minute and it'll usually thaw it out. :yesnod:
