Now I have to find some time to install it. Nice looking kit. I went with SSBC because it was the only kit I could find that would fit behind my wheels. Even though the wheels are 24", you can see in the pic that my spokes start to curve in towards the lip, so the caliper from the Brembo kit I wanted hit the back of the spokes.

SO, since I've dealt with SSBC in the past with good results, I went ahead and ordered the only one they had that would fit. The kit came with 3 piston calipers, 14" zinc plated slotted rotors (stock is 12"), stainless steel braided lines to replace the stock rubber flex lines, all necessary hardware, and instructions. Here are some pics of the rotors and calipers:

I'll be too busy the rest of the week, so I probably won't get a chance to install them till Sunday or Monday. I'll take some pics and do a write-up of the installation for reference.

Nice!

Looks like some serious hardware there, pal. How much does that rotor weigh?!? :D Out of curiousity, did you get pads with that set as well? (Maybe I'm just blind and missing them in the pics...)

Yep. Came loaded with pads. And stickers:D
The label on the package for the rotors stated 54 pounds, and the caliper package weighed 36.

Congrats JK nice looking kit,Thats an easy install! bleeding the brakes is the the hardest part unless you get the motive power bleeder I purchased one for 50$ and its a huge time saver,You fill this canister with fresh fluid, screw a cap directly on the master cylinder pump it with 15 psi (pump handle on top)and just open a caliper screw and let all the old fluid pump out and the new pump in( when I was doing mine the old way no one had the patience to keep pumping the brakes I was always rushed)This way you can bleed them alone and get all that old fluid out.Good luck and im sure you will post pics!http://www.livermoreperformance.com/brake_tools.html

Hey Whipple, thanks for the link. Appreciate it:thumbsup: . Wish I could have gone with the Brembo kit like yours. Oh well. Anyway, I've been starting to wonder what happened to ya. Haven't seen you around as much for a while now.

Another heads up before your Big brake install, most of these big brake kits just include braided brake lines for the calipers but there is one more rubber line to replace, theres one more rubber line on top of the rear diff running parallel with the truck its a liitle of a pain in the arse to change, its the transition from the truck body to the rear for flexable movement, but why change the ones on the calipers and not that one?Weak link!its going to flex as well and another reason for a spongy pedal.I changed mine with the Russell kit one of the kits that comes with the center rear line,I purchased this kit from summit awhile ago but then decided to do a big brake upgrade the kit was 150$.Im sure you can find this line seperate for sale, but I was against the wall and anxious to find out what was the cause of my low pedal problem so I eliminated every option and sacraficed the whole kit.Just giving a heads up before you bleed the whole system and find that bastard line like I did :D .

Whipple, thanks for the heads up. I knew about the rubber line in the rear, but completely forgot all about it. I'm going to look for the braided line and see if I can find it seperately. Thanks again.

Cool, looking sweet:thumbsup: .Did you do the rears as well! What about brake bedding what is ssbc routine,Brembo's is 60-70mph then brake at medium pressure for 3 secs cool for 30 secs and repeat 30 times then let completely cool, when I get mine at 100 percent this is what I will do, just dropped her off to get the rear end fixed.

Haven't done the rears. My front stock calipers were going bad, so I bought the aftermarket brake kit instead of just replacing the stock calipers. I needed the bigger brakes anyway. But I've got way too much going on right now as far as bills and projects, and with the holidays around the corner, I have to wait on the rear set for a least a couple months. I'll probably paint the rear calipers to match the front until I get the new set.
The only thing SSBC recommends is not doing full panic type stops until after about a couple hundred miles of normal driving. A few (10-15) 60-0 mph stops with medium pressure with a few seconds of cooling time in between each run should bed the pads. Hard braking too early before breaking-in can glaze the rotors and pads according to SSBC.

So jealous!!!! I could only afford the Powerslot Plus kit, maybe when these go, I'll have enough for some SSBC...looks killer! - tann

JK,

Looks sweet man! That's some serious stopping power you've got now. I'm going to definately get some big brakes once I get some new shoes. Who knows how long that'll be, my Camaro has me pretty busy lately.
