Is the GM Performance exhaust catback in fact from Corsa? Or is it Borla? Or is it neither? I really gotta know, and the dealerships are worthless for getting this kind of info. Anyone know??? Thanks.

You know I did alot of research on which exhaust to get for my 07 Tahoe and too me, my opinion, after looking at all the exhaust systems, from Billy Boat, Corsa, Magnaflow-which I purchased, Gibson, flowmaster, zoomers mufflers, aero exhaust mufflers, the GM brand performance exhaust looks like a Gibson.
I could never really find out myself who made the exhaust system, but if you notice on GM's advertisements for the Sport version and the Touring version they seem to go hand in hand with the description of Gibson exhaust systems.:yesnod:

The exhuast is made by Corsa for GM. There was rumors that Borla was making them, but most have agreed that Corsa was the main provider.
I went with the Borla exhaust. No cabin drone, and has a very nice rumble outside. Love it.
1. Borla
2. Corsa/GM
3. Magnaflow

I really love my Magnaflow cat-back single side exit. Sounds great and goes awesome with my other upgrades (k&n intake, throttle body spacer, and superchips tuner).

The GM Perf. exhaust used to be made by Corsa but the one for the GMT-900s is made by Borla. I talked with techs at both companies to confirm this.

Thanks that sounds like specific factual info. Also, I read somewhere that GM had a GM built system and also the system outsourced to Corsa and Borla, as it were. Is this true? So Borla does Sport and Touring just like Corsa then, is that the confusion? And do you think the Sport is still quiet enough to be a wise choice? Thanks, thanks, and thanks.

:eek:ld: "GM Perf. and Touring cat-back are now made by Borla."

Ahhh, got it. :thk: So is what I heard wherever I heard it about there being these systems and also a GM made one not true? It was just a post in a thread somewhere, not vouching for it.

And how do you like it and the CAI, 73shark? That's what I want, to keep them both GM. And is your cat-back Sport or Touring? If Sport, how's the noise inside?

The exhaust is the Performance version which I guess is what you're calling Sport. Maybe they changed the name since I got mine. The CAI looks good and may be just a little bit louder at WOT but then I was amazed at how loud the stock intake was. The exhaust sounds good at idle but comes on strong under hard acceleration. You will hear it inside even w/ windows up. But at cruise, you won't notice it. Not sure if there was any performance gains w/ either mod which probably says Chevy engrs did a pretty good job w/ the stock systems.

No you're right, I think it's called Performance. Sounds about like what I want it to be, with no loudness just cruising but strong when you get on it. And I presume there's no "drone" and no ugly noises when it goes to V4? Also, can you confirm that there is only these two Borlas and not another set made by GM, as I heard? Looking around all I've seen are these Borlas. I was also looking at GM Parts Direct and their prices seem wrong. They said $678 for either one, all of their parts were 7.3% cheaper than one dealership except these, which were more at GMPD. I emailed them asking about a possible mistake, and if the prices shouldn't be $592.03 for Touring and $507.33 for Performance. Does that sound right? The dealership online, which was basically the same catalog, said $638.54 and $547.19.

I paid about $500 with my discount at my Chevy parts dept. As far as I can tell there are just these two systems made for Chevrolet by Borla. The V4 mode is just barely noticeable if you are listening for it. Most probably won't even notice. If spouse notices, just tell her it's the sound of saving money:thumbsup:

LOL yeah I was thinking Performance since if it's GM endorsed it's probably relatively mild. And the LOL is because it's so true, she will believe anything I tell her. But man, GMPD doesn't have a phone number (site actually says they don't use one to keep costs down, and pass them along), and I've emailed them 3 times about the prices looking wrong and still no response.:mad2: But thanks for all of your help, I appreciate it.
