so when i bought my 99 2dr hoe the fuel gauge never worked right. it shows accurate but has that ''hummingbird buzz'' to it. the oil pressure gauge read higher today than what it usually does and the water temp and voltmeter seem to work fine although it looks like the water temp wasnt clocked back right when the gauge face cover was changer out to a white backing and tealish color lit up. my main concern is my is the tach that will ''hang up'' frequently and jump many rpms when i make a hard pull. another thing the transmission squeaks when it shifts gears at high rpms when i am on it. it has corvette servos in it. thanks in advance.

Ok, the humming bird buzz on the fuel gauge is notorious, my 98 Sierra does it, the PCM now controls the guage, but does so at a very low frequency. The guage originally had a viscous fluid in it that dampened the vibration, there are youtubes on how to fix that.

The Tach jumping is probably a bad tach or ground or something of the like as it comes off the coil.

You shure the trans is squeaking? How about the crossmember or leaf springs or something?

I knew about the fuel gauge problem that's why I said I wasn't too worried. I replaced the rotor in the distributor last week. Do you think I could have bumped a wire? I have a squeak in the front drivers side suspension but it needs ball joints and I think that's what that is but it is most defiantly coming from the transmission I think. It only does it when under hard acceleration/high rpms (3000-^).

I wouldn't think so. It's like a really harsh, loud belt squeak or like a electric pto clutch on a lawnmower when you engage it but much much louder and harsher.
