I have a simple question for my 1996 Tahoe LT 4-door. Normally I do all the work myself, but thanks to a recent snowstorm and a lot of military duty for my National Guard unit, I figured spending an extra chunk of money and getting work done at a repair shop would be safe.

My mistake.

I had a blown alternator which they appeared to replace fine, but in attempting to swap out fuses it looks like the royally messed up the box. I got it back with the air bag warning light on and within a day of driving it the rear lights and speedometer backlight went out. Turns out the fuses in slots 9 and 10 (rear lights, speedo backlight, other misc lights for 9, air bag system for 10) were burned out, and the fuse in slot 2 (transfer case) is totally missing. I'm assuming instead of replacing fuses like they said, they just swapped them around. I plan to demand a full refund from the shop since losing my tail lights left me stranded at night 50 miles away from my house in 10 degree weather, and then to do the work myself.

The problem is that I'm not entirely sure on the voltage ratings for replacements. I'm afraid they may have messed up and swapped the wrong ratings and blown the extra fuse, and I want to make sure I put in the right ones to replace it. I've Googled the hell out of it and read the manuals, but I can't find the ratings listed anywhere. If anyone knows the ratings for these specific fuses or can peek inside their box if they've got a similar vehicle it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Dan

First off, sorry someone screwed you over....... I have 2 neighbors in the Guard, great fellas.

Second, www.autozone.com has a repair guide that may help you determine which fuses are rated for what (Current - Measured in AMPS).

Do you have a users manual? Fuses should be listed near the back.

The fuse codes are in the users manual and are also found inside of the cover of the fuse panels or boxes.
