Front Hubs - Shaft Required?

Who is the moderator? I am expecting a reply.

I got a question for the techies. I have a vibration in the front end. I removed the front half shafts. Simple question: will the front hub fall off with wheel attached without the half shafts installed? Does the big nut on the half shaft also hold the hub assembly together? I want to drive the vehicle to see if the hubs are nosiy or if the front pumpkin is noisy.

No, the wheels will not fall off. The big nut is so the axle shaft dosent move in or out destroying the CV joints.
