The front end of my truck is making a racket when I hit any bumps. A buddy of mine said it was a common GM/Chevy issue, but I have not been able to figure it out.

I have taken it to my local mechanic (a friend) and he and his mechanic went through it could not figure it out. He checked the tie rods, bushings, IFS, shocks and every nut and bolt on the front of the truck. I have searched through the posts and have not found any informaiton.

The truck has about 60K on the clock and this seemed to have shown up in the 4 months.

Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated.

Check your bumpstops and the torsion bar crossmember. Sometimes the tbar keys can make noise when the suspension unloads or your bumpstops are worn/cracked.

Do a search for ISS, or Intermediate Steering Shaft. That's the "common problem" that everyone talks about - see if it matches what you're experiencing.

I have an issue that sounds kind of like yours, but it is not the ISS. I have brought it to the dealership twice and they found nothing. Is it over every bump or just sometimes. Mine seems to do it during and after rain when going over bumps for some reason. The sound that I hear would be similar to if you parked on a hill and then tried to engage the transmission, you can hear that loud clunk. Not sure if we are the same here or not.
