front and keeps shaking about 65mph

so I just replaced the steering box idler arm idler arm bracket the pitman arm and the because the steering was really the signed up replacing the power steering pump is well. now I go on the highway about 60 to 65 miles per hour the car starts to shake. it does not shake when I hit the brakes I just replace the rotors and pads. I know I'm supposed to get an alignment after I replace a steering box but the steering box would not make the car shake like that. I put the truck on a lift and shake down the front and that I could not find any slack.

You put enough parts on it to throw off the alignment. After doing all that I don't know why you did just do change the tie ods and have an alignment done. Go have it lign n you'll be a happier man

I second that, although if you're like me and prefer to go the cheap DIY route, you can get really close to straight by eye and feel. I replaced my pitman arm, tie rods, and balljoints about a year ago. To get it close I jacked up the front and had the steering wheel centered. Then I visually looked down the sidewall of the front tires to line them up with the rear tires. After that I took it for a test drive. It pulled one way, so I went under and adjusted each tie rod by 1/4 to 1/2 turn. I repeated this process until she stopped pulling.

On a side note, since I did not replace my steering box, I still have more play that I would like, but even then, she still rides nice and smooth.

I use a Large "L" square and a piece of track that I clamp to it and lay the square across the face of one tire with the long end of the track touching the tread of the other tire and adjust untill it is even, then switch sides.

I'm just cheap...... I have had the alignment set this way on my 97 Venture after ball joints this way and the tires dont wear and it drives like a dream.... did I mention I'm cheap? Also the last time I had an alignment done, I had to do some adjustments to make it track straight. To be fair the rag joint was bad (I had replaced everything else but tie rod ends (felt solid) and the steering gear (tightened the box up). I did joints, bushings, pitman/idler/bracket..... side note the new bracket was bad also (the old one was much tighter than the Raybestos new one...)

Wow, the Raybestos had more play? All the guys at work (I work at CarQuest) say Raybestos is the best when it comes to suspension and steering parts.

Yeah, it had alot of slop in it compared to the original that I had taken off (this was after a couple months....) I prefer MOOG for front end suspension components.... sometimes they can offer a problemsolver variety that is fantastic compared to OEM.....
