Has anyone tried this muffler on their Tahoe? Its new to the Flowmaster lineup. I'm thinking of replacing the just the muflfler and adding nice looking tip. Yeah I know it will drone and I don't mind that at all. What size is the stock exhaust? End goal is is great sounding truck w/o replacing the whole cat back.

I wanted to get the Flowmaster 44 series too, but when I went to the shop to get it installed they let me listen to it outside and in the car before they welded it on, it just so happened that a friend called me when I was sitting inside it, the flowmaster was so loud inside (just idling) that I couldn't here what my friend was saying on the phone, it was so annoying that I told them to put the magnaflow on. It has almost the exact same sound outside the truck as the flowmaster, but inside you can barey hear it, unless all the windows are down! I would really recommend the Magnaflow but go whatever you think is best! Good Luck :Chevy:

I use to run a Super 40 series flowmaster on my tahoe. I had it for about 3 months before I got rid of it because it was too loud. At frist it was the coolest thing but after a couple 200 and 400 mile trips I would always get home partly deaf. So I switched my exhaust to a 50 series flowmaster. You still get the beefy tone under load but when you reach cruising highway speeds it mellows out. My 2 cents.

Ok, I have true duals through hooker headers (no cats) into 40 series Flowmaster on my Monte which has 330 horse small block 350. How much louder could this really be?

True, it can't get much louder, but keep in mind thats a Monte, and I assume you don't drive it every day and commute in it. :Chevy:

Super 44

:clapping: I have a super 44 on my 2007 Tahoe and to tell you the truth it is not that loud. I have a cat back system with a three inch down pipe. Don't get me wrong when you put your foot into it, it will do hell to the ear drums but at an idle or crusin your going to be fine.....

yea i was never bothered by my 40 series with no cat, but it was a 4.3L v6

i feel like it would just be better with a v8, since it wouldn't be so v6-ish at upper rpm

Exhaust upgrade

I just installed the 50 series Flowmaster on my 07 LTZ and I'm so glad I did. It's the best thing I've ever done to it. Not too loud either. I'm not too impressed with the stock tips that came with it but for the money you can't beat it. It wasn't cheap either. $400+ just for the parts and $150 to install.

I INSTALLED THE 44 SERIES LAST NIGHT. AND ITS NOT THAT LOUD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. HOW CAN I GET IT TO SOUND LOUDER?

When I installed the super 40 series that was the loudest one they had at that time. Now the 44 is loudest they have. Not sure how you can get any louder and still stay legal in CA. Let it "break in" then it might get louder.

From some recent posts, it looks like some people that installed the 44 series want a quieter exhaust. Fernando, when you change it out let us know what the differences are (loudness, tone, etc.).

Also, $400 for the exhaust and $150 to install is pretty expensive. A custom install here is $270 (parts and labor).
