I did an oil and filter change at 2,000 miles. I also switched to Mobil 1 then too. It probably wasn't needed, as the oil life monitor still had 82% left, but the 5 quart Mobil 1 jug was on sale for $19.99 and I couldn't resist.

I did my first one at 1,500 miles and then every 3,000 miles after that. I know it sounds like overkill but oil is cheap compared to engines.

I am the almost the same way...with all my other new vehicles that I have purchased in the past, I dump the original oil at 1000 then every 3K after that. The Hoe wont be any different.

I hate to say it but even thought the meter in the Tahoe and Corvette show I have time left I have always changed my oil at 3,000 miles.. It is old school rules and the new motors and oil don't require it so soon I still do it. My new Tahoe only has 1003 miles on it now so I've got a few miles to go before the first oil change. I think I'm going to put conventional oil back it this time and let the motor get broke in a little more before changing to Mobile 1.

There's an urban legend that you shouldn't use synthetic oil for break-in. Corvettes come from the factory with Mobil 1 in them.

Can you get Mobil 1 from a Chevy dealer or do you have to either do it yourself or go elsewhere to get Mobil1 in a oil change?

Chevy dealers should have it. That's what they use in the Corvettes. If you want to do it yourself, you can get a pretty good price at Costco.
