I know the theory used to be get an oil change after the first 1000 miles.(metal shavings etc,,) My mechanic friend believes that no longer applies to the newer vehicles and have heard others say the same thing.
I' m at 1200 miles now and will probably wait till about 3000 miles. I will be keeping this vehicle for a long time and wonder what advantages would synthetic oil have. I put it in my Corvette but that has almost 100,000 miles on it and felt this would help it stay cleaner,longer.....it also sits in the garage for long periods of time in the winter. A new car with synthetic? Does it make a difference other than fewer oil changes? in the long run?
Thanks, Joe
