Has any one run Firestone Transforce HT tires on their Tahoe? Especially if you tow a lot.

My Tahoe is a municipal owned vehicle that I use for work, so I really don't have a lot to say what tires they put on it. But I'd like to know what I'm in for. These Firestones replaced a set of Goodyear Wrangler RT/S that I got 70k out of. They seem to ride better than the Goodyears, but I'm concerned about their handling in the rain, and possible sway with a trailer. I'm not really a fan of Firestone because the couple of vehicles I've had with Firestones have sucked in the rain or snow.

I haven't tried these, but from the looks and lbs for towing capacity they don't look too bad. I don't care for Firestone also, and they should have at the "least" replaced back with the Wranglers. All about $$$ when it comes to the company.:hook1: In the snow or mud I would guess they wouldn't do too good but in rain they have some good sipe coverage. Towing is hard to say, the sides look stiff but you can always ajust pressure according to how much you tow.. When you test these out, drop in your thoughts here and let us know.

The Firestone Wilderness LT that came with my truck sucks monkey balls. Now I've got Cooper Discoverer ATR but I havent tried them on yet. I've got one set of tires for the winter and one for the summer and it's still winter here.

I think its scary to think about you guys who use the crappy all-season tires during winter. Every winter we see footage on the news about crazy american drivers piling up because of an inch or two of snow. Where I live a foot or two would cause problems, but nothing below a foot. Why? We've got winter tires!!!

And the skills. :D ;)

Yea, on our city's mechanical truck, we had these tires installed. Whenever I drove the truck, I treated it like a rental. The tires did hold up surprisingly good.

Would I trust a set of Fearstones on my vehicle, NO. Now on my ex inlaws vehicles, thats a different story.

Lol....if you knew what I do for a living, you wouldn't admit that on an open forum.:D

I checked their specs on tirerack.com and they "look" like a decent tire. In fact they have an "E" rating and the Wranglers only had a "D". The reviews were mixed, so I don't know. I just know the limited experience I have with other Firestones. Mileage isn't an issue because I'm not paying for them, but handling definetly is. I guess I'll just have to hook up our trailer and take it for a drive.

What, I didn't say anything. You got nothing on me, lol.

Seriously though, the HT's have held up on that truck. The sidewalls on the work truck are tough, as they have taken a lot of crub rash from me. I would recommend them over BadYear anyday. I wouldn't recommend them as a replacement for Michelin LTX series tires or BFG commercial graded tires either.
