I have a 96 Tahoe 4 door and I am thinking about getting some exhaust. For starters I don't have a ton of cash so I am looking to do this on a budget. I currently have flowmasters on my Mustang and I am not a huge fan. They have a tendency to drone a bit on the highway and I don't want that for my truck.

One thing I was thinking about was getting a Y-Pipe from Jegs and have that feed into a Cherry Bomb or SLP Loudmouth and finally exit through the stock location. Will something like this work and not negatively effect gas mileage and overall performance?

Any other options you guys would recommend?

Thanks!

- I actually had my friend at the muffler shop make me a Y pipe man its great.. i have it running into a Ravin muffler (i think they went out of business) and it comes out the stock pipe again - i'll get a picture of it and show it to ya.. it sounds good - i had gutted my Cats.. but where i live that is a no no - it didn't used to be when i did it.. but that was a $257 mistake.. had to replace them :(

A Y pipe into a single in and single out. I could see it using a cherry bomb. Flowmaster makes a dual in single/dual out. I'm sure a Y pipe will affect the sound either way. Gas milage and performance will not be very noticable. Besides now it sounds bad ass going down the road and it just "feels" stronger. In the long run the Cherry Bomb wont hang. That impacted glass sound after a year gets on my nearves. Flowmaster is the way to go IMO. Pleanty of sound clips on you tube.

I just try to keep some back-pressure with my Y pipe.. The Ravin Muffler is basically a knock-off flow-master as is with any muffler now-a-days.. but Ravin was running a website etc.. for a long time, they had a pretty good product line

Thanks for all the replies! Taking the advice I went on youtube and there are plenty of sound clips of Tahoe's with Flowmasters, it does sound really good. I guess that is what I will go with.

I recently put on a cold air intake and it sounds great. I can only imagine how good it will sound with some exhaust. Thanks!
