I have a 2008 Tahoe LTZ. The stock 4 speed automatic really sucks.

Does anyone know if it is possible to swap out the stock tranny with an Escalade 6-speed tranny?

If so, that would obviously be pretty sweet.

Yeah I bet its possible but expensive as hell!
Why didn't you just get the 6.2liter Tahoe or a Yukon Denali or something?

I believe the 6 speed is a little longer so you would need a new drive shaft not sure what else is involved.

your better off trading it in on an 09 with a standard 6 speed. 6 speed comes on all tahoes now. Even 5.3's.

I can tell you right now with 100% certainty. that if you put a 6 speed in your tahoe, your warrenty is in the, poop covered, never cleaned, drunkin whore house toilet.

While it doesn't fix it, getting a custom tune makes it a lot better for sure.

Tahoe Tranny

Thanks guys. I didn't know that the 09 comes with a 6 speed! That's pretty awesome. Damn, if I could have waited an extra year!

I have the new Superchips tuner. The problem is that 24's kill the gearing and with only 4 gears it really kills it. It does like 80 mph in 2nd gear!

I think I'll do more aggressive tuning on the shifts then maybe put new gears in it. It's a 2wd so it won't be too expensive.

Has anyone re-geared their Tahoe?

I'm suspect that your rims have anything to do with the way your tranny is shifting. Normally the bigger the rim the lower the aspect ratio of the tire. This would mean the overall diameter of your 24s and my 20s should be relatively the same. Of course, I'll be the first to admit i could be wrong though. Hope not, I wanted to go with 22s. I don't have issues with the four speed and I tow a 4,000 lb boat. I think maybe something's up with your tranny. Might want to get that looked at. If I'm not mistaken and I very well could be, the shifts are computer controlled. Something's up I'ma thunkin... :)
