2006 Chevy Tahoe
Check engine light came on...took to Autozone. They said it was PO451. Shop is telling me they need to replace the evap. solenoid $354. They will then retest the system. If light is still on, I need to replace fuel pump $1145 additional. Does this sound right and are the costs fair? I am a woman and don't want to be taken advantage of! :(

Just changed an evap solenoid on a 2006 suburban. part was $23.00 from auto zone and took less than thirty minutes.... i think you can answer your own question on that....my code was P0449.... cleared out all ok now.

I would clear the code, and make sure the gas cap is tightened correctly then see if the light comes back on. if not then there might be an issue that will need addressing. I have a 2000 Tahoe and replaced a bunch of evap stuff and I spent a total of maybe $250 but the only two things I didn't replace was the evap canister and the gas tank. but got it fixed and no light.
