My 2008 LXT developed a pretty severe brake pulse which I assumed was a front rotor issue so I had the rotors turned and replaced the pads...no change.
Then against my better instincts, I thought that it might be the rears and installed new rotors and pads...no change.
Then I rotated the front tires to the rear thinking that it might be a bad tire belt...no change
I checked the front bearings and tie rod ends to be sure they had no play and made certain the caliper slides were absolutely free. Despite all this, the brake pedal pulsesand the steering wheel shimmys under any material level of braking.
Any fresh ideas out there? I'm out of them.:help:

Well, the problem is solved. I removed the front wheels, and let the car idle in gear and measured the run out of the rotors (which had been turned) and found that the driver' side rotor was running out by about 50 thousants!
Just how in the world a rotor could be turned and not be trued is a question I intend to ask the parts store who did that job!
Regardless with the installation of new rotors, the brake pulse is gone.
Take away lesson: Never turn brake rotors again!:flame::flame
