so here's the problem, over the past few months i have trierd to start my truck int he morning and the battery will be dead. this only happens on an occasion. so i'll jump it off and it iwll be fine driving the rest of the day. well it got to the point where i went out a bought a new red top optima, which has been fine for about the last two months. however the problem has started again, so i know it cant be a bad battery. so is the alternator goin out? or is there a drain somewhere in the truck. i do have a sound system with an amp i dont know if that could be the problem. any help would be appreciated. also, my interior lights flicker on and off when a door opens. and my power locks have stopped working for the most part, only the driver door button is responsive.

maybe a loose ground connection. an underpowered alternator, or some kind of drain from the system.

what type of amp or amps do you have? any time i do a system i use a battery isolator to shut down all power to the amps and cap.if you pull the fuse on the power line to the amp you wont be using any power from the battery. i would have the alt checked to see what output your getting

I'd check the interior lights. It could be a bad door switch causing the lights to be on all night thus causing a dead battery.
