I had the strangest thing happen, I was driving back on about a 5 hour trip on Sunday night..I heard a "ding" and then my driving lights went out completely. I pulled on the "brights" and they would flash but not stay on. I pulled over turned the vehicle off and started again then they came back on. I think this is the second time this has happened but it was dusk the last time...any ideas on what is causing this?

Short somewhere? idk why ud hear a ding? Does it sound like the ding when the door is open and the keys in?

had you been pushing the dome override button for any reason?? push it 4 times within a few seconds and it turns off your drl's and your auto lighting(headlights and taillights).
at least on an 02 it does.....
