There is a clunking sound coming from the drive train upon start up from a stop sign or slowing down to corner and then accelerating again. You can kind of feel what seems like something having play in it?

I was think it may be a drive shaft u-joint or the rear-end?

Any feed back is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Agreed. Need to block the wheels and put in neutral and check for play in the u-joints. May not be that though and could be in the differential. Need to get a sample of the diff fluid and see if is burned or has metal in it. Also, check for motor mount play. Also, check all suspension and steering mount tightness and shock mount tightness. It would be even better if you gave the year of your rig, c'mon man!

Good point, its a 2007.

The strange part is the noise isn't constant at start and stop. It may not do it eat every stop or acceleration after a turn, etc.

while youre under there make sure you get a good look at the transmission mount along with the engine mounts as mentioned....many people ignore it and it is a great source of play and noise....

Sounds like engine mounts.. set parking brake left foot on brake pedal put in drive hood open look into engine compartment while in drivers seat and snap the accelerator pedal to max rpm and see if the engine pops up it will be obvious then do the same thing in reverse also might want to check front hub bearings if you find nothing with engine mounts

Dont you find rather somewhat unappreciated when you help out and then you never hear back, not so much for a thank you but to at least check back to let us know what they found to help oth er s here withthe same issues. Its like most just fall off the face of the earth till they need help again

ElGuapo, good morning you $hit stirrer! I have said the same thing about 2 people here and on the other site. They either state a problem and then you have to ask 20 questions to get out of them what they are exactly experiencing, how often, did it start after they worked on it, has it happened before, did they do anything since it started to happen and what parts did they replace....etc.. Sometimes have to ask for the year, make, model, engine and trans info, like I know what they are driving by osmosis....
Then when you help them they either don't look any farther for the problem and don't tell us that or they did fix and then they don't post how it all is or even a thank you.

What really makes me torqued is that the only time they post on here is with a problem. Hell they only join the forum because of a problem.

You, bladenbullet and myself have posted to help this guy/girl with no response back, like he/she fell off the face of the earth. Such is today's society. Not like the old days, huh guys?

:beatdeadhorse5:

One last thing. Have you also noticed that especially when they just joined and only joined because of wanting help with a problem that if someone doesn't respond back within 1-2 hours they get all uppity and post again like....."Can't anyone on here help me? Anyone? Can't believe someone hasn't seen this problem before!" So, no patience either.

like theyre posting to someone waiting for them....

such is life....you kknow as well as i do that in the business its not uncommon either...a customer will smother you while they have a problem and sometimes the only way you know its fixed is with a follow up call or you never see them again and hope its because its fixed....

few and far between are people who will go out of their way to let you know how they made out....

the real pity is it screws with your internal database on what works and what doesnt....

Agreed bladen. We try to help and throw out things to look for based off of limited info from those that need help. Just like a TSB. If we get info back that what we suggested did help fix the problem then we can rest assured that if we hear the same problem again then we can save time and have the guy/girl check for what we know will likely fix the problem.

I mean, afterall, we all know these rigs never have problems in the same way as the same rig somewhere else in the country! Said with tongue firmly in cheek!

:peace:

I have made a list of my own for some who ask for help and either they don't take to heart what we suggest or have an attitude and they don't get a response from me. There is a guy on the other site that has an engine miss problem and he has tried everything under the sun and has been recommended to try all of it and then some and then I chime in and ask if he has done a basic compression test and I get no response and the others that have thrown out all the suggestions say nothing. I won't be back to even care if anything works for the guy/girl.

You know me raiderron I my not have much of one but what I do have left I speak my mind whether its nice not nice, or just say I call it like I see It, after all not just me everyone here that goes out of their way to help out, and yes bladenbullet absolutely right about in the real world never hearing back unless theres a follow up however their not obligated due to them being a paying customer here their not paying for any service or repairs. Again they dont want to say thanks for the help thats cool, my problem is they can at the very least say hey that worked so if someone in the future want to look up some post that are related to their same issue its here and ready for them to work with

Agreed. We have to speak up and hope that enough people see what we are talking about and hopefully make it better in the long run for everyone. On the other forum I had had enough of people posting with no vehicle info or no chronological order of problems or what they had attempted to do to try and fix the problem. I laid it on pretty thick. I had some posters PM me and even answer the thread that said they were sorry and would do better with the shared info. I also had some people like 07burb and other regular posters congratulate me for what I said and was very happy someone finally did it.

Like you said though, these people don't pay for the info so they sometimes don't feel an obligation to respond back because all they care about is themselves. Well at that point I just value my opinions the same way and will not dig too deep for info for the OP unless I get the feeling that they truly appreciate what we have to say, like the guy with the fuel pump problem. have a great day ElGuapo!!

:peace:
